Macbook Air M1 one hand open not working - hinge seems to tight

I have a Macbook Air M1 and bought it 5 days ago but the cover/lid has always been hard to open. It doesn't require a lot of force, but it definitely requires two hands to keep the bottom part on the desk. I assume it's this tight so the top cover will stay in position when it's opened.

Is this normal, and if not is there a way to loosen it a bit?
