Logic Pro 11.0.1 recording and playback issues from external audio input.

When I go to record a new track using the mic/line in option everything sounds great. Then when I play it back it sounds like it was recorded from the depths of the seas . Literally tried rebooting, changing audio interfaces and creating new projects yet the problem keeps coming back. Never had an issue like this until now. Tried resetting everything back to default settings and still nothing. I can record into GarageBand fine but Logic not working. I am new to this program so any help would be greatly appreciated.
