how can I reset my MacBook password if I already have my fingerprint installed?

so I have a MacBook Air but I forgot its password, I have one of my fingerprints installed into my laptop but I can't seem to reset my password since it asks for my old password.

Troubleshooting a Locked Mac Account:


A. Getting Touch ID to Work:

Add a New Finger ID:

Add a Fingerprint - Then, delete the current one giving you the issue. Then, add a new one with the proper configurations. Where to go and what to perform.

  1. Go Here: Set up Touch ID on iPhone - Apple Support
  2. First Add One: Add a fingerprint
  3. Then, Delete Current One: Name or delete a fingerprint
  4. The, add another a fingerprint.
