Brand New Pencil Pro Consistently Stops Functioning

Hello!

I recently purchased the new iPad Pro 13", as well as the Apple Pencil Pro. I'm an illustrator who uses Clip Studio Paint EX daily, for hours at a time.

I've been noticing that the Pencil Pro will randomly stop functioning altogether. It won't draw, tap, or hover, as if it's disconnected itself. However, it still shows as connected in the bluetooth drop-down.

The Pencil is always charged (usually in the 60-70% range) when it happens, and the tip is undamaged and properly tightened onto the stylus.

I've tried restarting my iPad, as well as checking for updates, but nothing has solved the issue. Do I possibly have a faulty Pencil Pro, or is this something that commonly happens and is a bug that will be worked out in software updates?

Presumably you have updated your iPad to iPadOS 17.5.1.

Multiple reports of Apple Pencil apparently being non-functional with the new iPads Pro M4 and Air M2 have been seen here. At present, the issue is believed to be a software issue that may be resolved in a future system software update.

Until such time as a update is released, you might be best advised to seek assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page.

Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases from Apple devices using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:
