FCPX becoming laggy despite having a brutally powerful Mac?

Hi there everyone!

I am sharing this problem I am starting to have because I cannot understand why this is happening: for some time now, I would say several weeks, my Mac seems much more "laggy" when working on Final Cut Pro X. Thing is, I never changed the way I work, I have all the "raw material" on an external SSD, and the library itself is on the Mac.

My Mac is a pretty powerful beast, it is a 40 core M3 Max, 64 Go, 2 TB SSD 16" Macbook Pro, and at the beginning, everything was flying super smoothly, but recently, when working on small projects, in relatively modest cameras (like a GoPro Hero 12), I feel like selecting clips, copying/pasting them on another project, takes much more time than before, and the Mac seems to struggle, despite being super beefy.

I am not lacking space as of now in my storages, be it the internal or external, and I regularly empty the optimized media to free space.

If anyone has some hint or the beginning of an answer, I would be glad!

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.6
