Any help please - my own music not showing up in albums or artists on iPhone

I use iTunes on my Windows laptop and download my own music onto my iPhone. I don’t subscribe to Apple Music and have no intention to.

I recently had an issue where all the artwork disappeared on my iPhone. To fix this I deleted all the music from my phone, deleted the Music app, reinstalled the app and then added all the music back onto my phone. However, since then a lot of my music no longer shows up in albums or artists on the phone. However, when I search for it in the albums view it suddenly appears.

I managed to get the albums from one artist to show up by simply amending the name in the artist field by putting a full stop after it, but this didn’t work for other artists. I’ve also:

  • made sure the iOS on the phone is up to date
  • ensured the iTunes app on my laptop is the latest version
  • I’ve rebooted both the phone and laptop
  • I’ve tried it with and without the artist name in the ‘album by artist’ field
  • as I say, I have deleted and reinstalled the app on the phone, removed and re-added all the music

This is driving me crazy, because everything was fine until the other day. If anyone has been through something similar and has any advice it would be very gratefully received.
