Syncing Contacts and Calendars with iCloud for Windows

Recently, in an attempt to simplify my life, I hired a computer specialist to install Windows for iCloud in order to keep my PC (Windows 11) and iPadAir and iPhone 15 in sync. iTunes as a way to sync devices is outdated and doesn't always work.

Now I've noticed that while many elements of the syncing work there are some glitches. For example, if I use the Outlook feature to change a time/day of an appointment it does not sync with the Apple devices. You have to delete the original appointment and add it as a new appointment. Is there a fix for this?

Also, I am unable to make the default for opening the new iCloud - Contacts and iCloud Calendar as defaults. I've tried various suggestions but none have seemed to correct the problem. It may be the way the accounts are configured.

Any suggestions?
