Unable to add Google Account to my iPad

I'm unable to add my Google Account to my iPad 8th gen. I sign in with my Google account then when it closes out of the sign in window it just does nothing and doesn't even add my account. I've tried manually adding the account too, but it just gave me an error.


I'm using iPad 8th generation with iPadOS 17.5.1

Please help 😀

Be aware that many email providers now require the use of App Specific Passwords when accessing mail over IMAP or POP3. If this applies to your email account, you will need to generate a unique password for your iPad email account - that will differ from your normal Account Password. As examples - AOL, Yahoo, Google, Microsoft all use App Specific Passwords when using anything other than their own email client Apps.


If you need to generate an App Specific Password, you’ll need to log-in to your Mail Providers account management webpage - using a web browser - and generate the Password from the appropriate account security page.

If the email app is opening the Google sign in page & you’re entering the email & password correctly then you may have to set up the account manually using the Other option:

IMAP Host: imap.gmail.com 

IMAP Port: 993 

Requires SSL: Yes 

IMAP Username: Your full email address (name@domain.com) 

IMAP Password: Your email account password

SMTP Host: smtp.gmail.com 

SMTP Port for SSL: 465 

SMTP Port for TLS/STARTTLS: 587 

SMTP Username: Your full email address (name@domain.com) 

SMTP Password: Your email account password


You’ll most likely require an app specific password via this method though.
