How do I delete this new Messenger end to end encryption I did not ask for?!

I want my chat history with a friend back to normal, and DON'T want to delete the chat to get rid of this end to end encryption that I did not request! I know this sounds overly-dramatic, but I would die if I lost my years of chats with my beloved friend now that Messenger encrypted it without my permission. Everywhere I've googled the steps say to do this, and then do that, and then to delete it!  OMG! This is horrible!! 💔

I am curious, what is your aversion of E2E encryption? As far as I know, all it does is make it more secure. Feel free to not answer if you’d prefer.

This is likely unrelated to end-to-end encryption directly, and rather with some conversations-related requirement associated with (not) enabling the end-to-end encryption feature within Messenger.

That’s mentioned (see Why do I need to backup my end-to-end encrypted chats? and such) in the following:

https://messengernews.fb.com/2024/03/28/end-to-end-encryption-what-you-need-to-know/

But again, this is all a Meta Facebook app, best ask Meta support for assistance with it.

And for completeness, the only way to mark data as being important is with backups.
