whatsapp image editing issue

When you try to send photos in WhatsApp from other apps or from the gallery, edit options like crop, pencil marker are not shown. A workaround is to send the photos from within WhatsApp, like using attachments option and send. This way the editing icons show as they should be. Does anybody is having similar issue? How to resolve this?
