Are my AirPods fake or not?

I went to Apple and they told me they were fake but they show in the about section in settings so I’m confused

Just because they show in the about section in settings does not mean they are legitimate. If you purchased the AirPods from any third party seller, then you have most likely purchased fake AirPods. The counterfeit market is huge for Apple Accessories and those will look the exact same and even copy the serial number of legitimate devices. Some symptoms of fake AirPods are:

  • Poor Audio Quality
  • Noise Cancellation may not work
  • May not show in Find My
  • May have trouble pairing
  • May not show AppleCare coverage


The only way you will know for sure you have legitimate AirPods is to purchase them from Apple or Authorized Apple seller.
