Gift cards are redeemable for the products and services the branded gift cards sells. In other words, Apple Gift Cards are good for Apple products and services it sells at Apple Retail Stores, App Store, iTunes Store etc. A Google gift cards would be good for purchases from Google, a McDonalds gift card is good for purchases from their restaurants. I think you get the picture now.
