Text styles are being applied to the whole paragraph despite selecting single word

Hi all!

I have been using Pages since 2021 and I have always applied styles to text the same way: I click on a word (NOT highlight - simply click) to place the cursor there and then I use whatever styling shortcut (ie: CMD + B) to style it.

Ever since the last Pages update I did, this way of styling text seems to have broken: sometimes the style is applied to the whole paragraph.

This is very annoying as it forces me to undo and highlight the text manually instead of simply clicking, which is much faster, especially since I use Pages for a few hours every day.

I attached a video that hopefully gives a clearer picture of the issue. As you can see, the styling works well for single words, until it doesn't and it styles the whole thing.

Is this some kind of setting that was enabled by default? I am not clicking anything except from "CMD + B" and it's driving me crazy.

Pages is on version 14.1 (7040.0.73)

Thanks!
