Why does FaceTime show call cancelled on both ends?

A person informed me that they attempted to call me on FaceTime and the call showed call cancelled on their end. The same person also attempted to initiate FaceTime with me during a regular phone call however they claim it showed again as cancelled on their end and on my end I was not able to initiate video calling. Could you please assist with information on this matter.
