How do I stop my iMac from automatically shutting down after not using for sometime?
My iMac with Sonoma 14.4.1 keeps closing down after about an hour or two of not using it.

1) For starters you should update to the latest macOS version.
see > Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support
2) The latest macOS versions are having various issues with automatic computer sleep mode.
As a test:
Turn On "Prevent automatic sleeping when display is off" and only allowing the display to turn off.
Then just leave the Mac On with display Off and/or shut down for longer periods of non-use.
Compare your Energy Saver settings
and Lock Screen settings.
If you do not want Start Screen Saver, set to Never.
If you do not want to enter the password, set to Never.
There are three different Sleep functions.
If you do not want Lock Screen after Display Off aka Display Sleep, then you need to disable the Lock Screen setting.
I continue to have problems with the iMac automatically shutting down even after a short period of use. [I have installed Sonoma 14.5 as was suggested].
I would like to know the exact settings under the Lock Screen. I followed den.thed's original suggestion of July 10, but do not understand what to do under the Lock Screen as in the July 11 message.

Many thanks!
You're welcome.
After updating the OS and setting 'Preventing automatic sleeping when the display is off,' it is now still automatically shutting down. Maybe it is in the Lock Screen settings? What should they be?
