When I save a new file and try to open it in another app (eg to upload it) the file shows as grayed out until I close and reopen the 'open file' window. This has been like this for a while and is very annoying. Does anyone know if this is a bug, if there is a fix?

I don’t use any of those, but I’m sure I could simulate the workflow with other software when I get a chance.
The closest I could come was Affinity Designer 2 as source and opening with anything that could open a jpg or png including attaching in Mail.
I could not replicate the problem.
I used both local and iCloud folders to save the file.
FYI, I just recently encountered the light gray file names in the Finder after downloading several files from a browser. The files were gray for several days. When I went to investigate using the command line to gather information about one of the files, I discovered the files had just turned back to normal -- light gray color was gone on all those other files. It was very strange. This happened on macOS Ventura. I had seen this occur previously, but the file name color changed on its on....almost seemed like the system was slow to process the downloaded files. I had seen other reports on this forum where people were mentioning having file names in light gray after downloading. I'm still unclear on why. I do not use any cloud file syncing services.

Never seen it, but I also have never saved a file in one program then immediately tried to open it in another.
I tried creating a text file in TextEdit then opened in BBEdit. No issues.

I am not sure when this started. I remember it started around the time I upgraded to Sonoma, and thinking: oh, a bug. It will be fixed in the next update. But it is not :)
This is the open file dialog after saving the top file in Photoshop and opening in Sketch
After closing the dialog and reopening it is no longer grayed out.
Even if it is 5 minutes after saving, this happens.
I can not upload the screen recording (and dont like putting it on youtube).
Is there any update? I have the same issue ever since I'm using macOS (about 2020) and I'm regularly updating.
I encounter the issue every single time when I create something in photoshop and want to upload it on via Chrome. It's always greyed out, but when I reopen it, it's "clickable".

Hi, I added more info. It happens from Sketch or Photoshop to eg: whatsapp, Final Cut, Sketch, …
