How to stop “blocked emails” from showing up in my email?

why am I still getting emails that I’ve formally blocked. When I receive emails that I’m not interested in, I touch block sender, believing I won’t hear from them again. They continue to send them to my inbox.

Why aren't emails marked "block" not being blocked? I am being drown in spam. I have marked them as "Block Sender," I've set up "Rules" in hopes of stopping this flood, and so far nothing has worked. Why? I am using an iPhone, a iPad, and an iMac with OS Ventura. All devices are up to date.
