Is it possible to swap macbook pro mother boards?

let's say I have Macbook Pro A and Macbook Pro B(both same year). If I swap their motherboards only (meaning putting the motherboard of Macbook Pro A into Macbook Pro B and vice versa) what would happen?

In theory it should work if both models are the same model ID (eg, MacbookPro18.3). Same year isn't necessarily enough. Logic board swaps are one of the few "repairs" possible without advanced microcircuit soldering skill.

Note: some models have components that require (factory?) pairing to work afterwards (eg Touch ID).

You run into issue with T2 security chip no longer paired to your...Touchbar/TouchID—borked.

Issues when the board is not flashed to the correct Serial number—which stays with the machine—

including Software update issues with mis-matched serial numbers, services and your Devices listed in AppleID.

Say what exact MacBook Pros are you asking about—

there are 60 models of MBP, and as you might imagine they are not all the same...and the issues you may encounter therefore are not the same.
