Not sure what happened as it used to work normally, tried to remove and re-add the screen recording button but that did nothing. This is on an iPhone 15 by the way. Let me know if anybody knows the solution to this problem.

If you are not running iOS 17.6.1, update, and test again.
If you are running iOS 17.6.1 and it is still not working as expected, and if a backup and factory reset and restore doesn’t clear this, then you’re headed for a discussion with Apple Support.
