I Can’t FaceTime My Groupchat

I have friends in different states and we all keep in contact through one group chat. For some reason it won’t let me participate in FaceTime calls to the group chat. Whenever I try, it’ll show the FaceTime screen with their profiles being ringed for like three seconds and then it’ll go away. I’ve deleted and we downloaded the app and have shut down my phone completely but I can’t figure out how to get it to work.
