hidden files in MACos sonoma

On Feb 5, 2024 BobWhite107 asked about showing hidden files in MACos Sonoma. Here are two commands that can be run in terminal.app (Finder, Go-Tab, Utilities, near the bottom of the drop-down list).

To show hidden files:

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE && killall Finder

To hide hidden files:

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE && killall Finder

Both worked in Sonoma 14.5 on July 13, 2024.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 14.5

It is actually much easier than that without having to use terminal. Just navigate to the folder in Finder and press Command + Shift + . (period). You can use this as a toggle to show/hide hidden files.
