iPhone XR not recognizing lightning to hdmi adapter

My iPhone XR doesn’t seem to recognize various adaptor cords. Most recently, when I plug in a lightning to hdmi adapter cord, it only charges my phone and will not recognize the adapter and will not provide any output to a TV, monitor, or projector. When I initially plugged in the adapter, it did seem to work just fine and I was able to display my phone screen onto a projector. Now it will not work. It only starts charging my device.

I have power cycled my phone, plugged and unplugged the cord, turned on Face ID to recognize accessories. I just can’t get it to actually work the way it it supposed to. I am just trying to connect my phone to a projector or TV using the cord. The adapter cord did work before and also works with other iPhone’s (my wife’s iPhone X works with the adapter just fine).

i just want to project Netflix etc from my phone. Any help would be appreciated!
