27" iMac screen is displaying coloured pixels
My screen started displaying pixels all over the screen. Even by connecting an external screen, the pixels show. I assume the issue is not the display itself. What can I do?

That gives every indication of a failing GPU. Because the GPU's are integrated onto the main logic board they are not replaceable unless you replace the whole main logic board. In that case it is time to replace the computer as main logic boards as main logic boards are the primary component of Macs and VERY expensive. If the computer was made prior to 2019, evening getting a main logic board is difficult as pre 2019 iMacs are now obsolete meaning parts are not made any more.

Have you blown the dust out of the intakes lately?
What temperatures does this App report? Especially the GPU.
This App can be used to speed up the fans, all my iMacs would be dead without it.
Never ever ever drop fan speeds below the speed that the Mac itself is calling for.
