Why won't my MacBook Air update even with available storage?

my macbook air wont update due to lack of storage. However, there is available storage.

Wondering which Mac model (year) you are using, and if the update is compatible.

Seems a Mac will always need around 8 Gb free in which to operate smoothly, and to do what you ask it to.

So to update, you Mac will need more than the Gb for the update plus at least 8 Gb of storage space on the Mac.


Any storage you may have in iCloud does not count. Your Mac's storage capacity is what counts for updates.
