I was going to ask if you had checked in Settings/Keyboard/Text Input/Text Replacements, except that the bracket is sometimes on one side of the space, sometimes on the other. That wouldn't happen if there was some odd text replacement set up.

How long has this been going on? Could something have happened to the physical keyboard such that the space bar somehow activates the right side bracket? Does it happen with an external keyboard?

If you don't an extra keyboard lying around try switching to a different keyboard under Text Input and see how the space bar behaves. For example, with the Latin American keyboard, the right bracket key produces a + sign. To add a new keyboard layout, go to Settings/Keyboard/Text Input/Input Sources -> Edit, select the one you have, and click the + sign at the bottom of the window.

If this is the problem, I suppose someone will need to open up the keyboard and see. You might be able to do it yourself, but as that would most likely involve removing the motherboard, it's not for the faint of heart.
