Unable to connect via USB to printer ‘EPSON WF-7520‘

I just moved and when I unpacked my Epson Workforce 7520 printer it would not connect to the new router. After trying to trouble shoot WiFi printing I bought a USB-A cable, and, using the "add printer" dialogue from system preferences:

Unable to connect to ‘EPSON WF-3520 Series._ipp._tcp.local.’ due to an error. Would you still like to create the printer?

I tried it both TCPIP and Bonjour:If I continue, the printer seems to be added, shows up in the list of connected printers, but doesn't print when I send something to it. I also cannot scan or see the supply levels.

I have seen other threads with this question, but not come across an answer. I am running Mac OS 14.5 Can anyone help please?

The Epson WF-7520 was listed as a supported model in a July 01, 2022 version of Apple's About AirPrint article, but is not mentioned in the latest About AirPrint - Apple Support. This could indicate that this model only has been discontinued by the printer manufacturer, or it could possibly mean that the printer firmware is not compatible with the latest macOS version(s). Have you checked whether a printer firmware update has been made available?

Normally, an AirPrint model should work without the need for additional drivers, if the printer is connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router) as the Mac computer.

Since AirPrint works with wireless (Wi-Fi) or wired (Ethernet) printer connections, you could choose to wire the WF-7520 by Ethernet to one of the LAN ports of the router (instead of using Wi-Fi) as a test.

Please note that the WF-7520 connects via the 2.4 GHz frequency band.

With some modern routers (with "smart" device discovery and automatic wireless band selection), renaming/splitting bands may be needed. In such a case, an Ethernet-connected printer could be advantageous.

A USB connection typically requires drivers (exceptions exist).

Thank you, Jan. The level of detail in your post is humbling.

There is a firmware update available for the WF-7520. But it is called, "Recovery Mode Firmware Update" and the instructions are to use it it only if my printer is displaying a Recovery Mode error.

I was unable to connect the printer wirelessly to my router. The router has a 2.4Ghz frequency, but there does not appear to be a way to select the frequency when connecting the printer to the network. I will source an ethernet cable and report back here :)

I installed the available drivers but the connection to the internet.

Thanks again!
