I am new to Macs and starting from scratch.
Someone set up Time Machine to do a regular backup of my iMac to an external drive.
I want to plug in the flash-drive, use it, and then back it up. How do I use Time Machine to do that?

Open the Time Machine section of System Preferences or System Settings, click on Options, and remove it from the exclusion list. It can't back up volumes in some formats, such as FAT32.

Eject the drive. If you connect it again, it will be part of the normal backup process.

So does the backup commence once the flash drive is removed from the exclusion list?
What happens after the backup is complete? Is the drive added back to the exclusion list automatically to ensure just one backup is done?
Once backed up, is it just a case of ejecting the flash drive to remove it?
