AirPlay Issues

attempting to airplay a hallmark show through the Hoopla bingepass using an IPhone. everything airplays fine except the actual video. theres just a black screen, but the audio works. any suggestions?

It works with my iPhone 14+ but not with my wife's iPhone 14pro. Doesn't work with either AppleTV or Roku, so I want to fault the iPhone. Google search is useless. It only suggests the obvious. It is working with one iPhone, so all of the obvious things to check are not the source of the problem. With the 14pro, when airplaying a video, the TV screen appears to be trying to play music for a second and then the music icon disappears from the screen. (On AppleTV. Roku has different symptoms.) The video does not play. Also, the video hangs up on the iPhone—the pause and play buttons do nothing. You have to close the video and start over. Resetting AppleTV, resetting Roku, resetting the wi-fi, resetting bluetooth, have no effect. I'm wasting my life troubleshooting this. If it was my iPhone I would smash it with a hammer. But it's my wife's so I can't do that.

First check with Hallmark and check to see if they allow Airplay for their content. Not all streaming content providers allow AirPlay of their content!!!

If they do and you still have a problem with your Apple TV then please check your network's signal stength where the Apple TV is located (don't confuse strength with hi-speed internet, ensure your Apple TV TV OS is up to date and then retry.
