Macbook Air M1 A2237 Display turns off periodically(but backlight remains on, and brightness can be changed) with, sometimes, weird distortion beforehand

The display isn't cracked, but sometimes the screen blacks out as I'm using it. I sent it for a firmware restore and reinstalled macOS but the problem remained. My luck with how long it takes to black out after opening it from sleep varies from a split second to an hour or more(but usually a minute or two). Closing the lid and opening it again causes it to temporarily work for a short time (after a few tries, it lasts for a few minutes). It sometimes distorts beforehand for a split second(some horizontal bars fade out the colour) then turns off. I am not using any intensive programs which would greatly increase temperature if that helps.

Would the display need to be replaced, or can it just be a faulty connection to the motherboard or something like that?

Thanks in advance.
