I have a 9.3 mini iPad bought in 2013 that I would like to use to read books from the library. Says I need adobe.is it possible to get adobe compatible with that age iPad?

What says you need Adobe?
The current version of Adobe Acrobat Reader for iPad requires iOS 15, so not going to work on an iPad running iOS 9.
With that said, if the library book is just a PDF, you should not need Adobe, the iPad can open PDFs on its own, no third party apps needed.
How exactly is the book from the library being provided?
That means you already have Adobe and needs to be activated, probably requires a subscription.
Where is it getting downloaded to exactly?
Are you downloading it form an app for your library? A website in a browser?
When I tried to open a book that was downloaded, it said j need to activate adobe.
It’s a downloaded ebook directly from the library.
This is almost too complicated for me. I do download books from our libraries app. I am thinking today that my old iPad is not holding a charge very well. Thanks for trying to help me.😊
