Macbook freezes when running powerpoint and a quicktime video

I have a 2020 Macbook running Sonoma 14.5. When I run a powerpoint for a meeting, and then switch to quicktime player to show a video the computer freezes when I try to switch back to powerpoint. I have been running this meeting with these two applications for 18 months with no issues. Now I suddenly have it freezing on me. It does this when connected using a USB cord to the projector/TV. I usually have to restart the computer holding down the power key. I cannot access force quit to shut down the programs. It is completely frozen. I don't know if this is a powerpoint issue, hard drive issue, etc. I have performed all updates and restarts. I have over 1T of memory still available. Thoughts?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 14.5
