Do Not Disturb Smart Activation Confusion

I was setting up a do not disturb for my senior year of high-school as I can often get distracted and noticed the Smart Activation. Essentially I want it to turn on when I’m specifically at school between 8am-2pm, but I don’t want it to be active afterwards as I still have extra circulars which can keep me there past 7pm. Using smart activation I set up for it to activate at my high school and to activate between 8-2. It’s unclear to me whether it will be on between 8-2 on weekdays and at my high-school, or whether I need to be at my school between 8-2 for it to be active. I’m hoping for the second option. I couldn’t find any straight forward answer after a couple google searches, nor did apple tips and other apple resources help, and most searches just lead me to dated articles.

You can accomplish the second option. What you need to do is set up a Focus:

Set up a Focus on iPhone - Apple Support

Hit + then choose Custom, give it a name, choose a color, etc, and proceed from there. Under Set a Schedule, you can choose a time range and a location.

That should get you what you want. I recommend turning Smart Activation off because it may conflict with the specific settings you desire.

Please let me know if that works for you.
