Hello. I have a late 2012, 27 inch iMac currently running El Capitan. Apple lists this model as being compatible for an upgrade to OSX Catalina. However after doing a full backup of the iMac and then going to the Software Update section of About This Mac, there are no updates listed at all. Any help would be most appreciated.

Check the application compatibility table, click here, and then on the download link for a newer OS. They're full-version upgrades and won't appear in the update list.
Catalina and above won't run 32-bit software and split the functions of iTunes up; if you choose one of them, use Go64 as well.

Hi Neil. Had a look at go64, it’s given me a list of non 64 bit apps that my system is running.
Can you tell me how I upgrade apps to 64 bit prior to upgrading to Catalina? Or do I just do it once Catalina is installed?

Check each of their websites; unless otherwise noted, this can be done before or after the upgrade. If there isn't a compatible version, find a different product which does the same thing.
