hiDPI option on Macbook m3 pro 14 inch MacOs 14.5

Dear Apple Support,

I am a customer from Vietnam and recently purchased a Samsung ViewFinity S9 27-inch 5K monitor to use with my MacBook Pro M3 14-inch running macOS 14.5. However, I am experiencing an issue with the display quality.

When I connect the ViewFinity S9 to my MacBook Pro and set it to the default resolution, the display appears blurry and not as sharp as it should be. Interestingly, when I disconnect the monitor, the MacBook Pro's display returns to its normal sharpness.

While the ViewFinity S9 is connected, I noticed the option "HiDPI" appears next to the resolution selection in the Display settings. However, after restarting my MacBook Pro, the HiDPI option disappears, and the display quality on my laptop also becomes less sharp.

I would like to know how I can get the HiDPI option to reappear consistently so that both my MacBook Pro and ViewFinity S9 displays can maintain their optimal sharpness.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Sincerely,

Barney makes a good point about mirroring. Is that what you are doing?

This poses a challenge when the resolutions of both displays are rather different.

If you are extending desktop instead of mirroring, then connecting or disconnecting a second display should have no effect on how things are shown on the built-in display.

The HiDPI options should affect only the external.

Try setting the external display to extend desktop, and let us know how that works.
