USB ASUS BluRay drive not detected as a device

Just purchased a new ASUS BluRay DVD drive (USB-3) but it does not appear as a drive on the device list

iMac 27″, macOS 14.5

Send it back and purchase a Pioneer BDR-X13U-S which is detected by Sonoma 14.5, and plays Blu-ray content with MacGo's Blu-ray Player Pro software. I own one and know it works. Pioneer even states it is compatible with Monterey, Ventura, and Sonoma.

You are welcome.

When you connect this Pioneer unit and insert a Blu-ray disc, the icon of the actual disc image will not appear on the Desktop which can be a little off-putting, but others have stated this about other brand players and Sonoma. That is cosmetic and does not prevent normal playback of compatible discs via likewise player software.
