In several versions on Mail ago you could look at a mailbox and use the down arrow to go to the next email. Now the down arrow only highlights the next email, then you have to hit enter to see the email. This was a much more intuitive process before. Now, imo, it is a less intuitive UI.
Or am I missing something? Give me back my down arrow functionality!

This sound like " Column View " in Mail
Pressing enter on the email will open a Tab with the Selected email appearing
As for Down Arrow issue , I too can't replicate this issue in Column View or Conversation View.
Does this Down Arrow issue Only occur in Mail or is this a System Wide issue ?
No change here. I can tap up or down to highlight the next email, and the contents displayed.
Edit: I didn't watch the video before, so I tried to duplicate your method of clicking on an email first, then using the arrow button(s). Still no change. The next email, in either direction, loads the content of the highlighted entry.
