printer drivers for epson printer

I have an old but fully working Epson Photo 1400 printer which I would like to use with my MacBook Air M2 running Sonoma 14.5. The printer is not WiFi and I believe I would need a suitable generic driver but have no idea how to connect it or where to get an appropriate driver. Has anyone any ideas how this could be done?

Yes you need a driver. The first thing to do is visit the Epson web site and search for a driver for that device which is designated to work with your currently installed operating system. (Sometimes one designated for an older OS will also work.) If none is available you can check the respected web site below where volunteers write free drivers for older printers which are no longer supported, but which work with newer operating systems. It is worth checking out. Good luck.
