Can’t sync 5th gen iPod video with itunes

Hello, title basically says it all. 5th gen iPod synced with iTunes until the last iTunes update. I haven’t tried using a different cable yet, but if the iPod charges with a cable, does that mean it should sync with that cable?

I’ve tried for a few days to resolve this and am stumped. Uninstalled and re-installed iTunes and the iPod Support Software. Tried installing a previous iTunes version, but that didn’t work because the library was modified under the later version.

Help! Please and thank you!
