Why does my Listening History have more songs than my Recently Played Playlist (that is created by Apple)?

In Apple Music, Apple create a few playlists for you. Recently added, Recently played, For you, etc. Apple music also provides your listening history in addition to the recently played playlist. HOWEVER, the listening history has EVERY SONG i listened to in order, whereas recently played does not include songs that i personally searched and selected to play next. why is that?

for example, if i listen to an album, let’s use Sexyy Red, and one of her songs made me think of a good Chief Keef song. after i find the song, select it to play next, and listen to it, the Sosa song (and any other song i 3D touch to play next) appears in my listening history but NOT my recently played. why is that?
