MacBook screen went Black post latest macOS Sonoma update.

I have recently updated to macOS Sonoma. Two days after the update, my screen went black, and I have tried everything to resolve the issue, such as restarting and booting, but nothing has worked. I am now thinking about how to back up my files. This is a 2020 MacBook Pro, so I believe Target Disk Mode will not work. I have thousands of important files on my Mac, and losing them would be devastating. I am quite unhappy with macOS Sonoma. If I reinstall macOS, will all the files on my hard drive be deleted? Can I open the hard drive and set it up in another computer? I am not sure if this option will work for me as my laptop is managed by my university, meaning I do not have administrative credentials. Can anybody help me with this information? Your support would be greatly appreciated.

If we understand correctly, the computer is enrolled by a University mandated Mobile Digital Management Service.

Is that correct ?

If Yes, they may or may not allow reinstalling the Operating System

You best contact the IT Department of the University and explain what you want or need to do.

As for a Reinstallation Over the existing installation .

Generally, it does not affect your personal files

Though, it is always Best the Backup your computer BEFORE

If you have used or are using Time Machine Backup Utility  you maybe able to Restore the Deleted Files

For future purposes

To truly protect your non replaceable Data - have a 3-2-1 Rescue Plan in place and always current

3 Backups using 2 methods and 1 off site incase of natural disaster or un-natural disaster.

Each of the above should be done to a Dedicated Single Purposed External Drive

Yes, you understood correctly. The computer is enrolled in a university-mandated Mobile Device Management (MDM) service.

I wonder if there's a way to reinstall macOS, as it currently doesn't provide any options. Commands like Command + R or Option + Command + P + R + Shift + Power ask for a password, which I believe is the administrative password set by the university. If I contact the university and they run these commands, would it be possible to reinstall macOS without affecting the files on the hard drive? Is there a better method? Additionally, is there any way to connect my Mac to an external monitor so I can see and log in?
