random annoying single beep sound on MacBook Pro

Every minute or so there is a single 'beep' sound from my MacBook pro. All alert sounds are off. cannot for the life of me figure out what is causing this alert beep. It only stops when it is shut down.

To trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

unplug all non-essential peripherals when testing

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

no insight — Try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues.

Yes, it sounds exactly like the ding/beep when you connect the power to the laptop. It does not occur when the power is not connected and its on battery. It also does not allow me to completely shut down the computer when it is connected to power....it will shut down and immediately restart.

That is because when any device is connected or disconnected from these Apple USB-C laptops causes the laptop to power on. The laptop believes the power adapter is being disconnected or reconnected which triggers the laptop to power on again.

If the Apple article @leroydouglas linked does not help, then your laptop will need to be repaired.

Edit: Here is another Apple article for troubleshooting USB-C Power Adapters...many of the items are the same as for the Magsafe article linked by @leroydouglas, but there are a few differences.
