Is direct Apple Pay to Apple Pay payments possible in the UK?

That is a Person To Person (P2P) payment. That requires Apple Cash, which is not available in the UK. Even if it was, it’s against the terms and conditions to use Apple Cash for P2P transactions for commercial purposes.

The best you can do, is providing links to pay via Apple Pay. If your customer has Apple Cash, they can still use Apple Cash to pay you via the link you’re providing. Your payment go through your merchant account which is what is required for merchants and commercial transactions/purchases.

Apple Cash (not Apple Pay) in the US, allows Person To Person transfers of monies. This is not a feature in the UK, as mentioned in my prior post.

In the UK and about 80 other countries around the world, merchants can use Apple Pay for more secure transactions (less fraud) using their debit and credit cards. Using Apple Pay, in the countries that support Apple Pay, requires commercial transactions between consumers and merchants.

Is your customer wanting to send you monies or are you a merchant that needs to add Apple Pay to your payment options?

Your customer is wanting to use Apple Cash. That is not available in the UK. In the US you can use Messages (iMessage) to request money/funds. That is not an option in the UK or anywhere outside the US. The only way you can accept Apple Pay (other than via a transaction terminal) or Apple Cash in the UK is via the link from your credit card processor.

I’m not sure what your customer is asking for. UK supports Apple Pay. There should not be any service issues or lack of features.

Your customer may be thinking of Apple Cash, which is exclusive to US because the bank offering the services is not chartered to provide banking services outside the US.

You said above that you’re currently offering a link to for your customer to pay via Apple Pay.
