Google Drive Desktop: App no longer opens or runs

I have been using Google Drive Desktop on my Mac Mini (2018 - Intel chip) for several years. The app should automatically open on start-up. However, the app will no longer open as of two days ago - even when I manually try to launch the program from my applications folder.

Any ideas why this might be the case or how to fix it?

Additional details:

• Did not install any macOS updates, though it is possible that an automatic or security update was pushed.
• Made no changes to Google Drive application
• Google Drive, Get Info > indicates it is version 94.0 and last opened today.
• However, activity monitor does not detect any processes related to Google Drive running.
• The Google Drive directory still exists, but the files are no longer syncing
• Google Drive is enabled as a start-up app in macOS Settings > General > Login Items
• Google Drive is enabled to access files/folders in macOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Files and Folders
