Can't reply to emails on mac Mail only

I have set up iCloud email on all my Apple devices. I use Hide My Email whenever possible. However, if someone sends me an email to a randomly generated email address, I can't respond from the Mail app on macOS, even though I can on iOS and iPadOS. I tried to find a setting that might cause this issue, but I couldn't find anything related.
