I dropped my iPad in water but got it out very quickly of the water what do I do it won’t turn off and the sound does not work

I accidentally dropped my iPad in water, and I quickly got out of the water I took the case off and lightly shook my iPad and blew on the speaker and I tested out the volume/sound buttons and they worked and I thought everything was gonna be fine and then all of a sudden I was trying to turn it off and it would not turn on and I tried the sound buttons they did not work and now I don’t know what to do and I don’t know if I should put it in rice or what to do. And this was my first time ever dropping it in water accidentally so I don’t know what to do.

Water and electronics do not make happy bedfellows. Your iPad is not designed to be water resistant. While it may survive being splashed with water if immediately dried, it will almost certainly suffer irreparable damage if submerged.

If your iPad gets wet, speed is essential. Shut Down the iPad - and do not attempt to use the iPad until you are absolutely certain that the iPad has fully dried out. Never use rice as a desiccant - as this will cause more damage. If using a desiccant, only use silica-gel pouches.

You would be best advised to take your iPad along to the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to assess your iPad. If repair isn’t possible, the iPad can be responsibly recycled - and you’ll be in the best possible place to explore possible replacement:
