My Logitech Keyboard won’t stop autocorrect mistakes on my iPad

I have an iPad 7th gen running latest iPadOS, with an external Logi keyboard. This combination has been working just fine for a few years. Recently, maybe after the 17.5.1 OS update, I can’t stop the keyboard from inserting some wrong characters. For example, if I try typing the question mark I get É, and if I type an apostrophe I get è instead. Autocorrect suggests the most common words with apostrophes, so thatès not too bad — if I notice in time. But it’ll never suggest a question mark, so on that Ièm stuck. Disconnecting the Logi keyboard and using the on screen keyboard works but I bought a keyboard for a reason. (And let me repeat, the keyboard on this iPad has been working just fine for a few years.)

I’ve reset the keyboard, followed by a restart. I have only the US English keyboard installed.

Can anyone suggest a fixÉ

Thanks

Rob

You may just have the wrong hardware keyboard setting (instead of an autocorrect issue). See this note

É instead of ? Is what happens when you have French Canadian instead of English as your keyboard mapping.

Thank you. You’ve saved my sanity. ;-)

I didn’t have French Canadian as the keyboard mapping, but noticed it was Canadian CSA. I first tried just Canadian which didn’t help, and then switched to US default which fixed the problem. It means I’ll get some incorrect suggestions (to us Canucks), like color instead of colour, but I’m used to that.

Thanks again!
