MacBook Air M2 Case?

Hi! Just looking for some input. I have had two MacBooks so far a MacBook Air 2019 and upgraded to the Macbook Air M2 just last August. Since then I have had a case on my macbook since I did not see any hinge issues on my last one. I have recently seen people say the cases are bad for the MacBooks. I am wondering what everyone thinks about using a case on your MacBook?

Also, as a college student I bring my laptop to and from school. I am worried that my MacBook might be damaged since our tables in class are so close together and people aren’t careful. But I also am conflicted because I do not want to damage my hinges.
