How do I set up OTP Manager
I downloaded OTP Manager but the set up instructions are confusing. The App says my icloud account status is OK. Do I need tokens?? Why, what are they and how do I use them?
MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 14.5

From what I can tell, that is some sort of authenticator app.
On a site that uses that system, you scan a QR code with the app to add a "token" for that site.
When you try to log into that website, it asks for the Authenticator code (usually six digits). You look at the authenticator app and find the code associated with the website.
I don't know why you would be using it with your iCloud account.
I have the same question. I recently logged in to my Social Security account and was told that I had to download a new security app to continue to use my account. Recommended for Mac was OTP Manager. I downloaded it and it says "Your iCloud Account Status is: - OK" How do I benefit from OTP Manager? What are Tokens? Do I need them? How do I get them? Some help please.
Thanks for the reply. I’m questioning whether I need it as well. It appears to be another layer of authentication which only adds more hoops to jump through on the way to useful sites.
It's part of a 2-factor authentication. You certainly don't need it for iCloud.
You may need it to use 2-factor authentication on other services.
If you don't know why you need it, why did you download it?
