How to factory reset iPhone 8

We have someone that has access to an older telephone of ours, and my husband still cries to work occasionally. But the person tends to like to mess with the passcode, and he said the timer on it so that even though we know the passcode, the phone doesn’t realize that so I’m not certain what the technical term is. But once again we are finding that we were going to simply have to erase the iPhone 8, but we did have a back up, but we did earlier today. I can’t find directions on how to do that. Can anyone help please?

Factory Resetting an iPhone:

A. Go Here: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to Factory Settings - Apple Support

No Success?:

B. Go Here:  Erase and Restore your Device without a Computer- Apple Support.

If locked out:

Stop Touching the Device! Read the following...

Troubleshooting the Passcode...

To unlock this, you must do so from through Apple Support. See the following...

Hold It Right There!:

Enter the passcode incorrectly too many times, and you'd likely be locked out for good. So, hold it right there, and refer to this link: If you Forgot the Passcode on your iPad, or your iPad is Disabled - Apple Support. It would be the one you've always entered. If you do not know it, then look for it in a location you may have stored it in.

Have any Proof of Purchase?

Unless you have the original packaging and receipt, you may be out of luck. If you do have it, however, then take this to an Apple Store, or an AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider)! and they may be able to restore it. The reason for this blockage is all about Security & Privacy. As for taking this up with Apple, you'd set up a Genius Bar Appointment at your local Apple Store. There, it will be looked at and you'll be provided with your options.
