Upgrading to new iPhone soon but my current phone is on the iOS 18 public beta 1

I am getting a new iPhone 15 soon and I have an iPhone 12 right now. My iPhone 12 is on the iOS 18 public beta 1 at the moment. Will I have to downgrade from iOS 18 to 17 on my iPhone 12 to transfer data to the new phone or will I have to update my new phone to iOS 18 beta? I really need help with this soon and if anybody has had this problem or has any solutions, let me know. Thanks!

Also, if I have to update my new phone to the beta software will I have to use the same Apple ID or make a new one? Maybe I don't need to sign in at all but just incase please specify if you know.

Transferring to a News iPhone:

You'll be just fine. Use the same Apple ID. Note that an Apple ID is no more than an eMail address. So, once iOS18 is out of beta (in a few months), that is when to perform the transfer. Because if you downgrade, then you'd have to reset this to Factory Settings. So, wait until the bets is out no longer, and then perform the transfer.

Two Methods - Quick Start or iCloud:

Use Quick Start:

The transfer may have stalled. So, is Quick Start what you used here? Either way, I recommend you restore your new iPhone to factory settings, and then perform this once more, using Quick StartUse Quick Start to transfer data to a new iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Sync Through iCloud:

Sign in to the same iCud Account on both devices. Then enable items (i.e. Photos) in iCloud on both phone. All pertaining items will be accessible between the two devices. As an example, here is how to go about this for Contacts:

On Both iPhones...

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: Your Name (Top Item)
  3. Tap: iCloud
  4. Tap: Contacts
  5. Enable: iCloud Contacts

Thanks for your response. The problem is that I don’t have a few months to switch. I’m getting the phone in a week and I would really like to keep all of my data on my phone instead of just pictures and contacts. Do you have any other ideas?

Backing Up to a a Computer:

To get everything as it was, back it up to a computer. Being a different device you won’t be able to restore your new phone from it. So, Quick Start is the way to go about this.

Whether or Not to Downgrade from iOS18:

When iOS18 is released as non-beta, then you’d just perform an update —all will go to iOS18. So, to downgrade of iOS18 beta, you’d have to restore your new iPhone to factory settings and then rearrange things to how they were(by downloaded photos and such and then moving apps about the home screens).

So, for recollectance of what went where, take a screenshot of your home screens and upload items iCloud. Then, rearrange them accordingly.
